Swirls of Life

Many months ago Linda Lee sent me several old dresses she’d been saving but wouldn’t be wearing again. In exchange for getting all the beautiful fabrics, I said I would make her a quilt. Well, I finally finished. What started as sketches based on seeing some of Linda Lee’s painting, came to life on the floor and later with my sewing machine.

I call it ‘Swirls of Life’ and each part of the triptych has a subtitle: Calm, Creativity and Chaos.

Here’s a close of up each quilt. I wanted to quilt each one differently to represent the different phases of life and to also allow me a bit of practice. And to sparkle things a bit, I added pieces of costume jewelry.
