When I started the snowboard piece, I couldn’t decide how the figure would fit onto my background which has been 12†wide by 7†high. I made one snowboarder and the piece looked odd. I made a second figure and the piece still wasn’t what I wanted. So I cut it in half and made smaller quilts that focused just on the snowboarder with very little background and the pieces finally felt right.
