Reader Creativity – Janet and Jerri

I love when quilters send me photos of their creativity – inspired by my patterns and creations.

Janet made these quilts for her granddaughter. She writes:

The first one I made has the yellow background with the blue dress.  I was just thinking about how my granddaughter Abby wants to be a “star”, I had that fabric and just chose a contrasting color for the background.

Then I thought about something she said when she was about 4 years old.  She has always loved pigs and has collected them in every form.  She was talking to her cousin about what she wanted to be when she grew up.  Abby said that she wanted to “save all of the baby pigs in the world”.  I couldn’t resist….I then asked her if she wanted to go downstairs and have some sausage for breakfast.  With great enthusiasm, she said “sure!”

So, on the back of the quilt with the pig, there is a label that says, “Though she enjoyed a breakfast of sausage as much as the next person, she dreamed that she would grow up and save all the baby pigs in the world”.

I can’t wait to start on the next one.  It is for a little granddaughter who was born on the 4th of July.  Thanks for the good instructions and the inspiration.

I am truly smitten by the pig and cannot wait to see what Janet will create next.

Jerri was scheduled to take my Magpie Girl workshop that was cancelled. All the students still received the pattern and instructions and Jerri has been busy.

She has completed these two magpie gurls and has plans to make 5 more – one for each granddaughter. Jerri writes:

I  am really hooked on these. They are much fun, but of course you know that.  It is hard to see but I did write in the left hand side.

I wrote joy joy joy on this one and love and laughter on the one below.

I agree with Jerri, magpie girls are so fun to make.
