This is the next holiday quilt for our friends’ year of quilts. 4th of July fabrics featuring owls, all the states and dogs in hats. My husband picked out most of these fabrics. He chooses fabrics that are outside my usual tastes and challenges me to use them. I enjoyed the patchwork while I rested […]
Star Wars Quilt
While my eyes were attacked by allergens in late May/early June, I worked on bigger quilts where most mistakes would be hidden by seams. This Star Wars picnic blanket is for my husband. He is very excited to use it when we return from our trip.
Blue Bike
A blue polka dot bike; what could be happier? You can’t help but enjoy the ride with a basket filled with flowers. Enjoy the ride – bicycle in blue dots (21†x 14â€)
Red Bike
The flowers are fussy cut from floral print fabrics. It’s a fun challenge to find prints just the right size. I had quilted ‘journey to happiness’ when I made the background, but the bike covered some of the words so I added ‘bike happy’ after the bike was applied. I like that it now seems […]
Black Bike
A boy’s boy in black/dark gray. The fabric used to make the bike is a text print on dark gray. I used a knife edge binding on the bike quilts. I’ve been experimenting with how to do it quickly and efficiently. It’s a puzzle I like solving and hopefully someday mastering. Enjoy the ride – […]
Yellow Bike
I have a large bike quilt that hangs in my dining room. It gets a lot of compliments so I thought I would try making smaller versions. I used white Kona for the background and kept the quilting simple, lines and a few words. Stitching the smaller bikes was a bit nerve wreaking until I […]
MQG Michael Miller Challenge
As an individual member of the MQG, you can sign up to receive fabric for their challenges. The current challenge used Michael Miller fabrics. You could add other Michael Miller fabrics and solids. I love the part flowers so I created a garden themed wall hanging. It measures 40†square. The back is one of […]
Embrace Wonders
Wish… When I was brainstorming ideas for the sentiments on these quilts, I read Anna Maria Horner’s about page and I was struck by the phrasing about embracing wonders and imperfect moments so I knew this quilt with a long haired brunette needed that sentiment. She embraces wonder and imperfect moments (14†x 20â€) I […]
Thankful for Color
Color! I fussy cut my large handwriting text print to have ‘share joy’ on her face. The photo is in focus, the print on her shirt is just a bit psychedelic. I like it! She is thankful for color (14†x 20â€)
Sparks Creativity
Her short orange hair pops agains the dark blue background. A mixture of 3 fabrics make her shirt, sweater and skirt. The dimensional skirt was carefully folded and pressed to make that pattern. She sparks creativity in all who meet her (14†x 20â€)
