Art Quilts

Per the request of a young fan, I made surfer girls. The background is various blue fabrics fused to the batting and quilted. The girl, board and surf is fused on top of the background and outlined with thread. She is home where the waves are (14” x 11”)

I started using more patterned fabrics in the background to create scenes like the little hill here Flying her kite She welcomes windy day (5” x 10”)

When I was collecting ideas for my art show, I came across an ad in a magazine of a little girl in a yellow coat. I just had to take the happy little girl running through a kitchen in the ad and put her outside. She creates her own happy (5” x 10”)

This green fabric begged for sunshine and blue skies. The girl ventured out in boots and a floral dress. She celebrates today (8” x 9”)

I haven’t shared the details of some quilts created last year – this girl was part of the American Quilter magazine article (Nov 2013).
