Adjusting My Sails

I was to leave in in week for conference in Toronto about art quilting. Due to COVID-19, the conference was cancelled,

I have been on the committee helping to plan the conference for more than a year. I spent 6 months organizing lightning talks (20 slides – 20 seconds a slide – for quick 6 minute 40 second presentations). I was excited for the time away and time to connect with my people.

I’m bummed and frustrated and struggling to adjust. I understand the decision to cancel and they are plotting to make the conference virtual which may be nifty, but it doesn’t get me out of my house, out of my comfort zone or give me a much needed break from daily life. I will eventually accept the situation (and just my sails), but it’s okay to grieve for plans you don’t get to see through. Right?

It’s been too long since I posted, but I am still stitching!
Six months ago I started working for the local school district in project management. I get to write documentation and solve process puzzles – I love it. However, the job is full time so I spend less time in the studio than I’m used to. When I do get to creating I don’t seem to stop for blog posts. I will try to do better – posting is fun for me and you too.

I’m trying something new. I added beading and matted the piece. It’s ready to fit into an 8 x 10 frame.
