YAY! It’s my birthday this week

“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” – Oprah Winfrey

In grade school when it’s your birthday, you bring baked treats to share with the class. It was a wonderful way to celebrate – giving something tasty to your friends.

While it would be fun, I can’t send baked goods to all of you (sorry!). However, we can celebrate together with another treat – a big sale!

25% off everything in my Etsy shop now through April 21st. Now’s the time to nab an original art quilt or stock up on patterns or prints.

I can hardly believe I’ll be turning 44. No matter the number, I’m determined to mark the occasion with a smile on my face and joy in heart. Thanks for helping me celebrate my happy birthday.

Thread Drawing Fun

It’s break-up season in Alaska with melting messes of mud and so much dust which is not fun for my allergies. As I await the arrival of spring green, I’ve been stitching up rainbows (dresses and unicorns), flowers and more.

I sit down at my sewing machine, with an inspiration image, prepared “canvas” (fabric sandwiched with batting) and pick a place to start. I do my best to stitch the image with one continuous line of thread, going over lines to darken them and move through the image to create texture or words. Then I pull out my box of markers and begin the coloring.

With each thread drawing, I am growing my skills as I stitch my own story as an artist.

Ready for a Spring Refresh

Thanks to months of stitching time I’m excited to have an ample supply of artwork to offer a selection for sale online and in local galleries (Girdwood Center for Visual Arts, Dos Manos, Quilted Raven).

Drawing with thread is my happy. Coloring is relaxing. Combining the two to create art is joy.
