Six months ago I was laid off from my full time day job as a technical writer – telecommuting (working from home). The lay off wasn’t a total surprise, but it still was a bit of a shock to not wake up at 5:30 am each day and put in 8 hours on a computer.

There’s no snow in Anchorage Alaska. There is ice covering most of the sidewalks, streets and trails. We walk slow and add spikes to our shoes. My winter bike has studs, like our car, but without snow, winter biking isn’t much fun – it seems more cold and more dark without snow. Bike Merry –
