Early in 2015, I sketched out plans for several quilts and carefully assembled and cut the fabrics. I then set them aside to work on other projects. Recently, I dug out those bags of fabric, looked at my plans and changed my mind. For this quilted, I decided to create 9-patch blocks. It was fun to pair up fabric and then piece the blocks together.

These 5 inch squares were quilted in the ditch and down the center of each square both horizontally and vertically. I like the subtle pattern it added to the dark solid squares.

The back print pulls out the orange, gold and dark blues used on the front.
About the fabrics: The front uses Kona solids and several charm packs of Doe by Carolyn Friedlander. The back is an older Tula Pink print from her Acacia line.
