The quilt would be a gift for our friend\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mom who recently was diagnosed with heart issues.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/wpid-IMG_5588-2014-10-26-20-48.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-IMG_5588-2014-10-26-20-48.jpg\"\/><br \/>\nNever one to pass up a challenge and it would make great gift, I found a medical drawing of a heart and printed it across 16 sheets of paper that I assembled and turned into a pattern on Saturday morning.  I scoured my stash for fabrics, but I usually buy 1\/2 yard or smaller so I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have anything big another for the bottom part of the heart.  <\/p>\n<p>After a trip to a local quilt shop I returned home with a variety of Fossil Fern colors for the heart and a blue subtlety striped fabric for the front and a heart print for the back. The quilt top and back were pieced and then sandwiched with the batting.  I quilted it with straight lines following the stripes.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/wpid-image1-2014-10-26-20-48.jpeg\" alt=\"wpid-image1-2014-10-26-20-48.jpeg\"\/><br \/>\nI traced the heart pattern onto Wonder Under, ironed it to the fabrics and cut out the heart pieces.  After trimming the quilt, I placed the right side of the pattern up, with parchment paper over it.  I removed the release papers and assembled the heart, fusing it together once every piece was in place.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/wpid-IMG_7229-2014-10-26-20-48.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-IMG_7229-2014-10-26-20-48.jpg\"\/><br \/>\nI outline stitched around the heart three or four times and bound the quilt with the blue stripe fabric.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/wpid-IMG_7233-2014-10-26-20-48.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-IMG_7233-2014-10-26-20-48.jpg\"\/><br \/>\nThe quilt was completed less than 8 hours after the trip to the quilt shop!
