It was fun to pause during each step and snap a photo.  Hope you enjoy seeing the process as much as I enjoy doing it.  <\/p>\n<p>Find a drawing or photo of a face and trace it.  If I am using heads I already created such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/?p=216\">these<\/a>, I skip this step.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/wpid-DSC01029-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-DSC01029-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" width=\"246\" height=\"165\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/wpid-DSC01030-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-DSC01030-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" width=\"221\" height=\"165\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Scan the drawing, edit using Photoshop elements and print the onto muslin ironed to freezer paper.  Remove the freezer paper and iron the fabric face onto fusible webbing. Peel the release paper from the dress and place the head, arms and legs.  Iron carefully to secure the girl dress, body and head together.  Trim extra fabric near shoulders.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/wpid-DSC01061-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-DSC01061-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"117\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Piece the background fabric, then create a quilt sandwich.  Ensure the background fits the size of the girl &#8211; not too big and not too small.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/wpid-DSC01066-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-DSC01066-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"239\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Use decorative stitches on the sewing machine to create a stitched background and trim the quilt. Sew the lines in the hair as well.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/wpid-DSC01074-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-DSC01074-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" width=\"432\" height=\"278\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Embellish the girly &#8211; with decorative machine stitches, lace or trims.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/wpid-DSC01076-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-DSC01076-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" width=\"532\" height=\"254\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Square up the quilt if needed and bind (pre-made binding is great for this).<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/wpid-DSC01079-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-DSC01079-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" width=\"432\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Add embellishment to the quilt.  Dimensional embellishments such as these tiny metal frames or buttons that need to be hand stitched are added after machine stitching the hand written sentiment.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/wpid-DSC01080-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-DSC01080-2011-06-12-19-061.jpg\" width=\"332\" height=\"610\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s what the back of the quilt looks like at the end.
