I thought spool photo holders would be great gifts for quilters and I have a large collection of wooden spools stashed in my studio,<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/wpid-DSC05848-2012-12-5-21-03.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-DSC05848-2012-12-5-21-03.jpg\" width=\"504\" height=\"592\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Below are the steps to create a spool photo holder yourself.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal\">\n<li>Cut lengths of annealed steel wire approximately 13 to 18 inches in length and wipe with a rag.  <\/li>\n<li>Wrap wire around a marker or paintbrush 4 times to make the coil that holds the photo.  <\/li>\n<li>Drill 2 small holes into the top of the spool.<\/li>\n<li>Glue a small circle of felt to the bottom of the spool. <\/li>\n<li>Apply a few lines of glue to the spool and wrap with yarn or jute. I used a grey wool yarn.<\/li>\n<li>Secure the end of the yarn with a dab of glue.<\/li>\n<li>Add lace if desired securing with small dab of glue.<\/li>\n<li>Add a button tied with a bit of string or glue the button in place.<\/li>\n<li>Add a dab of glue in each hole on the top of the spool and insert the end of the wire.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/wpid-DSC05857-2012-12-5-21-03.jpg\" alt=\"wpid-DSC05857-2012-12-5-21-03.jpg\" width=\"504\" height=\"378\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Here they are all packaged and ready for delivery with a little photo card saying \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcI\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m sew happy.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122  I made a few extra that I am giving away as part of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.believemagic.com\/journal\/?p=1252\">Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I like to give little gifts to my quilt guild friends.
