Journals – Paper Fun

I like paper almost as much as I like fabric and my drawers were stuffed full when I began creating this latest batch of journals in April. By the time I finished everything left fit into 1 12” x 12” x 3” box and that was mostly tiny scraps and embellishments.

I use the embellishment to create a small collage on the first page of each signature (group of pages to be stitched into the cover) and to make blank pages less intimidating. Anything can be stitched or stuck on these pages: tags, ribbons, tiny paper or fabric scraps, stickers, rub-ons, junk mail, tickets, old cards, envelopes…anything!!!

In the last few weeks, I visited scrapbook and craft stores looking for papers to be used in my batch of journals. My studio tables are covered with stacks of pre-sorted pretty paper and I’ll be spending the next week or so cutting it to size and stitching it up into funky signatures to be bound into covers.
