I was to leave in in week for conference in Toronto about art quilting. Due to COVID-19, the conference was cancelled,
I have been on the committee helping to plan the conference for more than a year. I spent 6 months organizing lightning talks (20 slides – 20 seconds a slide – for quick 6 minute 40 second presentations). I was excited for the time away and time to connect with my people.
I’m bummed and frustrated and struggling to adjust. I understand the decision to cancel and they are plotting to make the conference virtual which may be nifty, but it doesn’t get me out of my house, out of my comfort zone or give me a much needed break from daily life. I will eventually accept the situation (and just my sails), but it’s okay to grieve for plans you don’t get to see through. Right?

My coworker doodled a cat doing yoga – tree pose at a recent team meeting. I was challenged to turn into fabric art.
One week later, I had two adorable art quilts ready to hang in our office space. I’ve challenged my coworker to draw more cats doing yoga so we can have a rainbow of cats in a yoga studio.
